Pergola Square ZIP installation in Trim, Co. Meath
This project in Trim, County Meath features a made-to-measure Pergola Square ZIP designed to create a comfortable and flexible outdoor living area directly beside the house.
The pergola measures 450 × 490 cm and is attached to the property on one side, creating a clean transition between the indoor living space and the patio. The structure is finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, giving the installation a contemporary appearance that works particularly well with the dark window and door frames of the property.
Retractable dark grey fabric roof
The roof uses 314 638 Dark Grey fabric, providing adjustable overhead shade while maintaining the softer appearance of a tensioned fabric pergola.
When extended, the roof creates a defined covered area over the terrace. When the weather allows, it can be retracted to open the patio back up to natural light and sky.
This flexibility makes the system particularly practical for Irish gardens, where conditions can change quickly throughout the day.
Two independently controlled motors
A key feature of this Trim installation is the use of two individual motors. Rather than treating the full roof as one single moving section, the roof sections can be operated independently.
This gives the homeowner more control over the amount of shade and coverage across the terrace. Depending on the position of the sun or how the seating area is being used, one section can be adjusted separately from the other.
Integrated LED lighting for evening use
Integrated LED lighting is built into the pergola structure, allowing the terrace to remain usable after daylight fades.
The lighting follows the clean lines of the frame and creates an even, architectural effect beneath the roof rather than relying on separate external light fittings.
The evening photographs of this project show how the LEDs define the roof perimeter and transform the pergola into a more complete outdoor living area.
Wall-attached pergola for a modern extension
The pergola is fixed directly to the house and supported by front posts, leaving the central patio area open and uncluttered.
This type of layout works particularly well beside modern extensions and large sliding doors because it creates shade immediately outside the main living space without separating the terrace from the house.
For this property in Trim, the anthracite frame also complements the contemporary extension while contrasting with the older stone boundary walls around the garden.
