About this project
Dark grey fabric and a matte black frame give this Navan installation a simple, coordinated palette. The canopy spans 4.8m and reaches 3.5m out from the building.
The fabric and frame are separate choices, even though both are dark. Looking at them together helps show the difference between the soft canopy above and the construction around it.
Keeping dark finishes distinct rather than identical
Dark grey fabric and matte black construction are related choices, but they are not the same material or finish. The fabric forms the broad surface above, while the frame outlines and supports it.
For a similar Navan awning, seeing both samples together can help judge that relationship. It avoids relying on a general description such as “dark awning” when the difference between the fabric and the frame is part of the finished appearance.
Solution and installation
The system is motorised and includes a wind sensor. This project keeps the focus on the proportions and finish of the awning. The photographs show the canopy colour beside the matte frame on the completed installation.
